The association “les Amis du Château des Allymes et de René de Lucinge” was created in 1960 by Suzanne Tenand-Ulmann and the Prince of Faucigny-Lucinge. The castle was classified a historical monument in 1960, and restoration works, as soon as 1961, made the site accessible to the public. Since March 6th 2017, the castle has entered a new phase of restoration works, expected to last 4 years. The castle is the property of the town of Ambérieu-en-Bugey since 1984.
The town of Ambérieu-en-Bugey and the departmental concil subsidise the association.
